Ok guys I'll give you a brief background before my main question;
So this Saturday I had a trial night with an events company that works alot of the nightclubs in my area, I'm just starting to work my way into Night events photography so my gear list is pretty sub par at the moment, most notably the lack of a TTL flash with an AF illuminator (pretty crucial in a dark club if I don't want to be pissing people off strobing the on camera flash to focus.)
I'm on a very limited budget so after alot of looking around I decide on a Yongnuo 465, (£60 from a UK supplier on ebay.) It comes a few days later and I was happy with it, eveything was working, the exposure is coming out well and its fun shooting at low apatures with some fill flash.
Untill the night I come to use it, I pop in some freshly charged batteries and after working for three or four test shots I head up into the main club to get cracking and the damn thing just stops and refuses to charge. Just flashes me a Green light (meaning the batteries are dead) I try it with two different sets of batteries and nothing.
Has anyone else got the same flash or had a similar problem? I don't know if I'm doing somehting wrong or if I should send back the flash?
Kurbster seems to know alot about Yongnuo gear, hopefully he will see this.
Sorry for the wall of text guys I find it difficult to paraphrase.

TL:DR: I bought a Yongnuo YN465 and it just flashes up a green light on the panel, is the flash broken or am I?

This is why professionals buy good gear, and have backups. Try fresh non-rechargable batteries, or then have it replaced if it still doesn't work.

Looks like the OP has checked out but it was probably the batteries, my Yongnuo flashes still work great after using them for over a year

Sorry guys, I checked all the batteries with a multimeter and after popping a set in that all read 1.3V the flash gave me the same error. I took them out and checked again and two of the four had dropped down to 0.8V.... I can't quite work out why unless I naffed it up.. I recharged that pair and took it out last night and the damn thing worked fine. I'll keep you guys posted, I can only hope it is simply me mixing up batteries but im sure they were charged on the first night.....
:/

yes, it sounds like a brain fart occurrence.
The important thing is the Yongnuo works fine.

Yeah, I've just had another night of fairly reliable operation so I guess I'm gonna be baking myself some humble pie at gas mark egg on my face.
Now it's working I can honestly say it seems fairly good, TTL exposure is coming out consistently well and the AF assist is precisely what I was looking for.
I can only hope for many more months/years of problem free operation on both ends.
