I'm about to experiment with video on my 1D Mark IV but as of yet haven't gotten myself any software for editing the resultant videos. For the mac all I can see is Final Cut Express, but am I right in thinking it cannot handle 1080p files which the Mark IV is capable of spitting out?
Should I just stick to 720p which Final Cut Express can handle?

Feeling a bit of a newbie again with this video lark, still learning's half the fun I suppose :)

Any help appreciated on software or any other help at all :)

I cant help you with the Mac issue, but I can say I use Premiere Pro (CS5 now) and it works great!

I can say that the AGC for the on-board audio is a problem. I basically blew off using an external audio solution, but looks like those that swear by it have a reason. The on-board audio is horrible if for no other reason the AGC. Very loud noise during silent gaps in the audio basically ruined a sequence of shots for me.

I've been recommended to get an external microphone before too, but might see how I get on with moving pictures before adding the complexities of sound first :D

I've considered the upgrade to CS5 but a tad pricey. Hopefully someone can chime in with any more info, thanks for replying though :)

If you want a beefier editing suite...I'll back up Harrison with Premiere Pro CS5... CS5 is the only NLE at the moment that is good for editing the canon files natively.

I used to not like Premiere Pro much, but the fact it's great at handling the hefty files means It's the only program for me right now.

I don't know if it's out yet or not, but Adobe make a cut down version of Pro, Elements... hopeful it will work just as well, that's very affordable.

Thanks.

A new Premiere Elements would be great, especially if they make a mac version this time.
