I just happened to walk out the back and saw this. First time I have seen one for myself and am quite chuffed I caught it!

It didn't last for long as the lower clouds came rolling in and wrecked it. But I managed about a dozen shots at all different settings.

Pity about the tree

Shot with my 17-85 at 17mm, no cropping. It JUST fitted in 30 seconds @ 6.3 ISO 400 but knocked it back .6 in DPP and added some contrast.

Great Shot. I quite like the tree. Much clear than mine. I couldn't quite get the full ring no matter how low to the ground I got.

Cheers 1000D.
Not sure if getting closer to the ground would really make a difference would it? Maybe altitude? I'm at sea level, how high is Wagga? Maybe that is the difference?

The tree shows just how poor the 17-85 is at 17mm. That is a vertical tree....of course. You should see how it molests horizons

Pretty groovy shot, looks like the eye in the night sky.

Every little bit helps I surpose. I think we are around 500m above. So that would make some difference.
