Can you export from Bridge CS4 like you can in lightroom?

In lightroom I can select all the photos I want to export along with the size, watermark and destination. I have been told that this can be done in Bridge as well. Does anyone know how to?
I have been thinking about getting lightroom once the beta is over but I do not see much difference in it and Bridge except exporting.

I usually export like this.
1 set of Full res completed files.
1 set of 1200px at the longest end
1 set of 900 px on the longest end.
1 set 500px on the longest end Watermarked.
Each in a separate folder so you can see where I benefit from being able to use the batch operation in LR

Thanks for any help

You can use the Image Processor in Adobe Bridge...open Bridge and go to Tools > Photoshop > Image Processor and take a look.

You could also install Dr. Brown's Services which is a more robust version of Image Processor: http://www.russellbrown.com/scripts.html (external link)

There is also a Watermarking script in the same web page.

If you open all the images in ACR, hit select all, then save, you can produce full res images. If you want a specific resolution you need to use image processor. ACR is much faster than image processor.

One option is to create the full res images with ACR, then use those jpegs to create the two smaller sizes.

Personally I just use Image Processor, I can do other things while it's processing.

Why doesn't the Image Processor have a "Constrain Proportions" option ?
Am I missing something here ?

It does. I forget what it's called, but it's there.

It doesn't have a "do not constrain proportions" option ;)

Fit image resizes the image. If you want different proportions, you'd have to crop or transform.

In Elements it's called "Constrain Proportions" in DPP it's called "lock aspect ratio"

When selected, you only have to enter one dimension for the file to be resized to. If the picture is in 2X3 ratio and you enter 1000 for the height it will automatically make the width 667. 4X5...enter 1000 and the width will automatically be 800.

In CS5........"image" [Image Size] there is a "Constrain Proportions" choice, but why none in the Image Processor ??

In the image processor you will keep the original proportions unless you, say, run an action to chnge the aspect ratio. The image processor is not set up to do things like crop to a different ratio (or any editing at all) -- you'd need actions for that type of thing.

Right, so when you open the Image Processor dialog, the options are there to set the jpeg Quality and the image "Resize to fit", with the understanding that it will fit withing your dimensions at the original aspect ratio. You use it like the PS Image Size box with "Constrain aspec ratio" checked -- fill in the maximum width and height and the program does what you want.

When my image processor opens option 3, where it says "file type" gives the option to the right that says resize to fit. Is that what you are asking about?
Here is a screen shot of me resizing images for 500 px. This is what I do for most web images. Although I am still learning this:D

But with the image processor I have to enter the width and the Height.

Say I have a picture cropped to 7X5 ratio and I want to resize it to 2000 pixels wide, I have to figure out how many pixels the height should be.

In the other processors I just enter 2000 for the width and the height is automatically entered as 1429

Yes, but you will get an error message if you don't enter a Height.

The processors with (Constrain Proportions or lock aspect ratio options) the Height is automatically calculated.

It will make sure neither dimension exceeds that size, while preserving the aspect ratio. It will never change the aspect ratio.

Like most things in photography "try it and see" is good advice.
