Just passing through.. Nabbed my mates laptop quick!

Snapped this earlier while out for lunch in Fleet with friends, perfect timing!! We stayed for a couple hours in the end and caught loads of the flights, bloody typical I decided to leave the camera at home!! lol

Taken on my iPhone:

Very nice & +1 for the Chinook, mine of that from a first look through are pants. Just wish there was some more defined rotor blur?

Very nicely spotted and captured at the "moment", especially the South Bank shot

Again very well see, lots of different 'meanings' in that one!

I took a 865 yesterday and have only really started on the cull and I think I will have to be very aggressive this time i.e. not just the OOF's and plain aweful ones. Using the 70-300 I had real lack of reach and sadly the "small plane in big sky" ones will have to go :(

So here are few just to show the variety of lovely opps there even if the conditions and my location left a lot to be desired.

#1 the lovely Vulcan with bomb bay doors open (modest crop)

IMAGE: http://1stdesignit.co.uk/FIA2010/bBay_open_3881.jpg

#2 the F-18 did some nice rolls & inverted flying (modest crop)
IMAGE: http://1stdesignit.co.uk/FIA2010/invertedF18_3492.jpg

#3 the BBMF Lancaster (modest crop)
IMAGE: http://1stdesignit.co.uk/FIA2010/lanc_3617.jpg

#4 the Hurricane on final approach (full frame)
IMAGE: http://1stdesignit.co.uk/FIA2010/landing_3544.jpg

#5 the ME109 (full frame), the first time I have seen the well prepped & cared for old warbird
IMAGE: http://1stdesignit.co.uk/FIA2010/me109Landing_3580.jpg

#6 the Red Devils (a tightish crop)
IMAGE: http://1stdesignit.co.uk/FIA2010/triple_3414.jpg

I hope I will have more to share later but really should cull and reject first rather than just pecking at the sets ;)

Evening folks - I trust everyone is well, I am very jealous of the awesome plane shots all! (and the Mrs. did a sterling job too Steve!)

finally shook off the remnants of a MASSIVE hangover to do some pic tinkering, Richmond failed to offer up any Stag Beetles! but there were plenty of other bugs and creepy crawlies...

here's some of my personal faves...

Nice shots Laurence, the Lancaster is great. I missed that yesterday, it flew during a much needed 'nature' break :D

Lee that first butterfly shot is awesome, great colours, lovely dof, superb.6

Couple more from me, think I'll stick to my favourite shot of each plane/heli to avoid spamming too much.

Airbus A380 (thrown aroud the sky like it was a fighter trainer).

C27 Spartan being flown on a knife edge. this thing was insane and stopped on a dime (slight exaggeration).
IMAGE: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/4827037235_2119213f1a.jpg

Currently working on the F16 shots so more to follow.

Nice FIA Laurence, I can see your frustrations with the lens, too big a crop loses the details. The spit and mett need a bit more contrast as the blacks are virtually grey.

That Spartan is great and you would have thought Airbus would have cleaned their #1 plane!

Hmmmm! point taken

Which 'version' looks "better" of these two ~ just two different PP steps to boost the blacks/contrast :)

Version A

Version B

As for that C17J Spartan Jon is right it was being flown like a stunter, anyone can do a knife edge but how about a loop the loop inversion. (Again sadly a crop :( )

IMAGE: http://1stdesignit.co.uk/FIA2010/Spartan_inverted_3209.jpg

PS Just how good a copy of the 100-400mm is your mate selling???

Nice bike & nice shots Mrs Bodmin.

Bike looks ok in the photos but is a bit of a dog in real life lol, Still the engine and brakes are strong so thats the main thing.

Thanks for the comments, my missus is getting a big head now!! I must admit she is getting better even if they are shot with the dreaded green box mode.

Great airshow pics guys, would have loved to have seen the vulcan flying.

I really must finish sorting but here are a few more

The Reds, sadly dead flat part of the sky
#1

IMAGE: http://1stdesignit.co.uk/FIA2010/col_smoke_3758.jpg

#2 XX227 on finals
IMAGE: http://1stdesignit.co.uk/FIA2010/xx227approach_3827.jpg

The Typhoon
#1 "Who's your mummy"
IMAGE: http://1stdesignit.co.uk/FIA2010/tiffys_moma_3599.jpg

#2 Jet Blast (I needed ear defenders where we were standing...phewy!) I really do like the 'smoke ring' like pulses in the blast pattern.
