Lee - was it the cheepo version of the Rode video mic you bought - if so it is the same one as I got - what do you think? I think audio gain control on the can would be nice. Perhaps the 7D MkII - Eh?

Erm I'm not sure what version - cost about a £100 and someone else paid for it so you could say it was the cheap version! ;):D

seems pretty good for what it is to be honest - I don't suppose it would match up to a solus recording solution but for some cheap & cheerful productions all good!

Here's one I took last week - I think the heavy border might swamp it a bit - what do you think?

OK Lee - I paid £80 for mine after much searching on the internet.

Hi Neal

I bow to your knowledge :D Makes me wonder even more so just how directional the mic we can see really is, the noise the jets make is dramatic so perhaps it would not need to be that good unlike for picking up voices at say 40ft in a crowded room???

Well most of the telescope mics generally do get a very narrow field of pickup, but they are more suited for interviews really :S

Ian beat me to it.. Had just taken off from Heathrow and flew straight over us, missed the good angle as I dashed to grab my camera!
