Anyone know why as a photo loads into LR it changes colour? The fiesta I've just shot is orange, then as it loads it turns red.. Can I do anything to stop this? I have LR3

Sarcasm, right?

sarcasm/warp humour - it's a fine line! ;):D it did seem a hotch potch of collected military hardware all celebrating the Danish Navy's 500th anniversary!

The initial image preview you see is a Jpeg and shows all the colour settings that your body applies to it in camera. Lightroom strips this out when the full RAW is rendered on screen.

You can play around with the camera profiles bit at the bottom of the developing module, but it never seems to replicate that initial preview sadly.

Many times i have looked at a wonderfully vivid sunset shot only to see it tun a muddy orange when the file is shown "properly".

I have the f4 IS although my mate has it at the moment but I can pop round and get it back off him and bring it along to the BWC on Tuesday if you want a play with it, (thats if your going along)
So if I was you and you cant justify the cost of the MK2 get the f4 IS, its a great lens, dont bother with the mk1 2.8 if your buying it for the 2.8 as it only gets really sharp when you get to f4 anyway so whats the point.
BTW I sold mine for £1250 and bought a MK2 version new for £1699 so theres not that much difference between the two.

Mark if I could take you up on your offer as I will be at BWC, I was thinking of picking one up on the way ( making a detour to park cameras ).
but it would be sensible to have a play first

You did well to get 1250 the one I was looking at was up for 925 but saw tonight he has sold it for 1081 on ebay

how mcuch are you selling the 100-400 for Adrian - NOt for me but i have a mate who was thinking about buying one

and I have the f4 IS - very lens although i dont think mine is the sharpest however using it on 450d is probably not the best way to use it - plus i am relatively inexperienced at photography compared to others so im sure my opinion of itimprove over time

Interesting...I have read quite a few threads on them and the f4 is meant to be the best of the original bunch, I have had a play with Richs 2.8 and I was pretty impressed with that unless it needs to be adjusted. One way would be to have a go with someone else's and compare them.

I was looking at £900 for the 100-400, Steve expressed an interest yesterday so I will pm him first and let you know.

Seems wierd also they have an F-16 there, when they arn't used in the Danish Navy. Maybe its been withdrawn from use and stored there. Did you get any other photos of it Lee?

PS Something nagging at me about copying an OS boot drive.....I hope one of the other guys can clarify but I thought simple copying did not "copy" the OS even in DOS command line. You need a cloning (specific copying?) utility to make sure you get an exact copy of the drive. Or is your "backup" a self executing utility you created to have a restorable 'image' of the drive....???

I'd *ALWAYS* do a fresh install with any kind of change. It's the only way to be sure. Plus if you are the windows user there's the speed benefits of a squeaky clean system.

There were a whole bunch of visiting military peeps - so it could well have been one of theirs?

The coolest piece of military hardware I saw was the Norwegian Stealth boat, it was so very, very cool - painted up in an iceberg camo... I wanted one! :D

As you say 'cool' boat that one. I have never seen such dazzle paint scheme but that does rather presuppose she works in waters frequented by floating ice???

PS Having said that I wonder if her primary role is in coastal waters i.e. to be less visible with the Norwegian coastline as the backdrop???

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

I guess where the boat goes it's perfectly painted! has a whole array of clever evasive features, the angled body panels and so forth I was very impressed!

the boat is actually disguised as a warehouse building - it deploys a decoy boat to confuse would be attackers! :p:cool:
