thanks mate. I think i should have posted this before last night! How do you expose for a particular colour light?

Ive got a feeling some of the people came out red - bt hopefully i can fix that in post or at least reduce it. Didnt think of the drummer flash and would have been perfect to test out the new triggers. Thing is the venue was mainly sit down so it was difficult to get about without getting in peoples way or being too intrusive with the on board flash (not the built in one obv ;))

I never shoot flash at gigs, 1, I don't like the look and 2, its banned at most of the venues I shoot, so cannot advise on flash. madness cos the people in the crowd are blatting flash left right and centre, the number of times I get peoples flash spoling my shots lol!

Take a few shots before the gig and spot meter, shoot as wide as poss. good luck!

there's no need for a tripod IMO, I would suggest a beanbag or monopod if you need some support - the enclosures are very photographer friendly so you should be alright handholding... ahh I hadn't even thought of the weather! they have a nice enough coffee shop! :D

Coffee shop do cakes ? ;) Handhold all the way then

If you want your flash to blend in with surrounding lights you need to gel it.

There is a night club shooting thread here on POTN, check it out.

I did spot meter for the gig so hopefully that will have worked out for me. Funny you say that re the flash because once i had switched it off i was preferring the results. Only seen the stuff on the camera screen though not even removed the memory card yet.

Meant to be two weeks in Wales but ended up being about five days, spent the rest of it in Bristol which was great but not much shooting done, well about 1,500 images reeled off ;)
