I have 3 strobes and have stands for them. However, whenever I want to mount my flash units I have to take down the strobes or 2 fluorescent lights [they fit the same light stand studs as the strobes], I have to take off the strobes.

I have 2 music mic stands lying around and would like to convert them that I could put the flash units or fluorescent lights on them.

Mic stands have different threads / ends then light stands.

Anyone use mic stands to hold strobes or flash units and where did you buy the "converters" / "mounts" so you could fit the strobes or flash units on them.

Canon T3I, Canon 15mm, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm; Sigma 30mm; Canon 580ex II and 430 flash; Interfit Stellar Strobes; Lastolite hi-lite background; more

I would think a superclamp would work find for this, but a good superclamp costs about as much as a cheaper light stand, so not sure it works out to be economical.

This adapter will put a 3/8" screw thread on the mic stand:
