Thought I'd share a new accessory I've discovered that helps with quick acquisition of your subject. It's called the "Primos-Bi-Pod-Trigger-Stick". When I saw that the unit was equipped with a removable V-yoke that revealed a combo 1/4"-20/ 3/8"-16 thread fixture screw like my tripod I knew it's potential for my macro photography. Here's a link to the device:

Here's my set-up using it in combination with my S5 IS and DCR-250 sitting on top of my Manfrotto 322RC2 grip action ball head:
The really neat feature of this bi-pod is that the legs heights adjusts quickly and independently with a simple pull and release of the trigger. Note that the legs are independent, so you can use it on uneven ground and maintain a level and steady camera. The only movement is toward and away from the subject, which I need for focus anyway. Here are a couple of images from my first trip out with it this morning:
I should tell you that the first unit I got didn't work properly and had to return it for replacement. I haven't had it in the field much yet also to know how they hold up. The reviews on the website don't indicate a problem. Hope this helps you as I can tell it helps me.
Joe
