I am looking for a ND x8 (82mm) filter to work with a 16mm wide angle lens. Now it needs to be a slim case filter so that it doesn't cause vignetting. What filters would you suggest I have a look at?

Once you've got the holder etc then subsequent filter are a little cheaper. Canon 6D Canon 600D Canons 24-105mm L 85mm 1.4 IS L 70-300mm L. 100mm F2.8 macro L IS. 16-35mm L nifty fifty. 55-250mm IS. I don't know the brand however, so I think there could be something better out there. Well, whether you need a slim, or can manage with a regular, thickness filter often depends not just on the focal length of the lens, but on the design of the specific lens. An "82 mm wide angle lens" could also describe Sigma's 24-75 f/2.8 zoom. 24 mm on a full frame body is a wide angle; wider than 16 on an APS-C crop, in fact. Jon

Paul As a matter of fact, from my experience I can tell that 82mm filters are cheaper than 77mm ones. Maybe it's just in Europe, but I think that 77mm filters are more popular and that's why the companies are trying to make more money by increasing the price of the most popular products. 5D mark II | 16-35 f/2.8L II | 24-105 f/4L IS | 70-200 f/2.8L IS II
