is it better to shoot in RAW mode with Sigma lens?

Sigma lens tend to have chromatic aberrations.
Can Photoshop fix the chromatic problem of Sigma lens ?

You can us PS to do that operation on a JPG - it doesn't have to be a RAW file. Is the problem that bad that - is it something you are directly experiencing yourself Picard? I hadn't heard this was an issue.

There really shouldnt be any difference between a Sigma lens and any others. I shoot all Sigma and have no problems at all with CA.

However, if you want to PP, RAW is best anyway.

I agree with what Neil is saying regarding the RAW - it has the most "starting data" and allows for the greatest reovery of either blown out or muddied pixels. I would not worry about this issue at all unless something actually showed up in a print or other extreme onscreen enlargement.

The only time I ever had any issue at all with CA was the kit lens (18-55 non IS), which only showed up when shooting into the sun.

That was only by approx 1 pixel (using the CA correction tool).

First off, your camera ONLY shoots RAW. When you select JPG, the camera takes the RAW data and pipes it into its on-board JPG processor to generate the JPG "image" to save to the card.

When you shoot
RAW, the RAW "data" goes directly to the card and is not an image.

To generate an image, you use a
RAW processor (software on your PC) which turns the data into a viewable image, much like the camera's JPG processor. The difference is that YOU have complete control over the image generation process. You can change the white balance, adjust the contrast/brightness/black point/etc....

So you can leave these decisions up to the camera's little processor (and hope it makes the right decisions since they are irreversible), or save the decisions for later where YOU have complete control over it.

Is this something you've read on the internet, or something you've directly experienced with a number of different Sigma lenses? I own a Sigma and have not noticed any more CA than my Canon lenses.

Nonetheless, I prefer RAW no matter which lens I'm shooting with.

I read about CA on other review site. The reviews mention about CA in the Sigma 70-200mm macro lens.

It sounds like a characteristic then that may be exhibited in this particular lens under certain conditions. This does not mean it will be an issue in the entire manufacturing line ;).

OK, that's ONE lens. Sigma makes MANY lenses :)

Let's say a review of the Toytoa Corrolla says there's not a lot of trunk space. Can you then infer that a Toyota 4Runner doesn't have a lot of trunk space?

;)
