Hi,

I recently purchased a set of Pocket Wizard Plus II's for my Canon 5D and 580EXII flash.

The supplied PC cable that connects to the camera or my flash fits too loose and either falls out, or does not trigger the flash.

If I press on it, it will trigger. As a temporary workaround, I put a piece of tape to hold it in tight.

I thought of crimping the end a little, but I'm afraid of ruining the connector.

Can anyone recommend a solution?

Thanks!

The Nikon screw-lock is the best and easiest solution. Any tools you use on a PC connector will just be a temporary fix and you'll get very frustrated while you're missing shots and cursing at a cable.

I'll order the screw-lock PC connectors from FlashZebra.

Until I get them, I'll try crimping the ends a little.

Thanks for the excellent advise!

I think it stinks that I paid so much money for a set of Pocket Wizzards, and the supplied cables don't hold at all. To be forced to spend another $15 (each) on screw-lock cables really stinks. Oh well.

Despite the poor connector used, the PC connector is the industry standard, whereas the Nikon screw lock, although popular, is not a standard. You also have to remember that only half the connection is the cable and the other half is in the hardware. A poor connection is the result of tolerances in both components, not just the cable.

With a pair of long nose pliers give the end a little squeeze..

+1, I feel the same way about connecting my Cybersync CSRB to my 580ex ii. I ordered the screw lock cable from flashzebra too.
