What cliche overdone technique do you like?

Super-thin DOF? Tilted shots? Intentional lens flare? Rule of thirds? Overblown highlights? False modesty in the glamor forum? Something else?

For me, yes I know it's overdone and cliche, but I really like silky-looking waterfalls. I've done, and seen done by others, waterfalls with the water more frozen-in-time-looking, and they just don't grab me like a well-done blurred waterfall shot.

I'm also still a sucker for a good silhouette.

Well, sometimes you've got to practice the basics.

My pet peve: Superlatives related to photo critique. Not every photo is "Fantastic!" or "Bookworthy!"

I like to tilt my photos 360 degrees...

I wouldn't call the silky waterfall a technique per se.
So far I agree with everything and I would add that sometimes super thin dof is something I like, though it depends on a lot of circumstances. Also I often find myself reframing to satisfy the 'rule' of thirds but I think that is just habit and more wanting to get the subject out of the center than lining things up in a # fashion.

The latest cool and trendy thing will be tomorrows "harvest gold" appliance--dated and out of style.

I actually planned to do a photo with every no-no and fad, all in one shot - and post it for C&C. Just to see how fast everybody jumped all over it.

I'd have a telephone pole sticking out of someone's head, pseudo-fake HDR, heavy vignette, tilted horizon, over-sharpening of the eyes, blown out highlights, cut off toe... Just see how many I can fit into one photo.

My big one is lens flare. I find myself at concerts often, and there always seems to be one stage light or another that keeps flashing into my lens. I'll admit to trying to time it just so to get some flare, though there are plenty of times I just miss, but still get the shot of the performer I was after.
