I found this BG-E7 grip replacement on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com …ories&hash=item2a0727d4fa (external link)
and noticed it had an extra LCD screen and some additional buttons.
Did anybody use something like that and what are the advantages of using an original Canon grip vs. a knock-off version.
I have used Opteka grip before for XSi with no problems, except that the top-dial was a bit sticky, but nothing major and very usable.

Thanks

I went with a off brand grip on my 7d and love it.. Picked up a Zeikos grip from B&H a couple of weeks ago and everything works fine and the finger ridge is very comfortable.

that lcd is usually pointless... it really doesnt display anything useful... its like a clock and a stop watch and some bs like that.
i wouldnt want to buy a grip that is intended for longer battery life but yet has stuff built into the grip to suck down the juice

those zeikos grips on the other hand are great... i had one of those

Is the Zeikos now available? Of the third party grips I've liked theirs the best.

That sure beats the Canon version. I don't need a grip on the xxD bodies but have used them on the Rebel series.
