Mine is great. Ordered through Amazon, seller was Cheaplights/Todds Travel Photos. I have shot with it a handful of times now, using it as slave in combination with my Cactus V5s and 430EX II. Works great so far.

JMartel,I have purchased two 560 - one arrived a month ago, the second was recieved today.

The first one is working properly, the second one had a strange sounds (video) (external link) while zooming and its zoom failed after several power on\off. I`ll send it back to a dealer where i`ve purchased it, but there is an instrucrion how to repar zoom at home (external link)

The second trouble in these flashes (not inly 560) is capacitor (I didn`t met these problems yet) - there are many cases, when it fails, so flash can be powered on, but it doesn`t fire. This problem can be solved by changing that failed capacitor.

These two flashes have one difference - notice a small metall "stick" on the left flash just to the left from a center of a diffuser. The left flash is my first YN with its SN earlier than the SN of the right flash.

So it sounds like all the problems are on the earlier models that did not have the metal foot.

Is there a link to changing the capacitor? That was the issue with my 460II. Turns on and everything, but won't fire. Eventually the ready light starts blinking green/red.

JMartel, original link to a YN -460 repair report is here (external link), but it is in russian. Photos are not mine, nor the narration. I`ll just translate comments in english:

Uscrew the screws:

IMAGE: http://s53.radikal.ru/i142/1101/3a/ed7dec820273.jpg

Remove two rubber caps. Don`t worry, they are mounted on glue.
IMAGE: http://s001.radikal.ru/i193/1101/f4/4b0f27fbfa38.jpg

remove two metall brackets, they are also on both sides.
IMAGE: http://s005.radikal.ru/i210/1101/ca/d12386252ca0.jpg

The flash splits apart.

Then CAUTION!!!! If you have used or just switched on flash recently you have to discharge capacitor.
IMAGE: http://s015.radikal.ru/i333/1101/54/1cabecd772ae.jpg

Take incandescent lamp at 100W, solder two wires to it. Attach these wires to red and black contacts on flash. (text on photo reads "discharge on lamp")
IMAGE: http://i036.radikal.ru/1101/97/aa585229bd0c.jpg

Lamp will turn on and go of smothly if capacitor was charged

A blue capacitor is a new capacitor. Native YN`s capacitor is orange.
IMAGE: http://i042.radikal.ru/1101/f0/0f265d2cd735.jpg

A new capacitor shoul be 0.047uF 630V. You can buy this capacitor on Ebay, but we cannot guarantee its quality. We (I mean russians) prefer russians elements due to its foolproofness :) the blue one capacitor was purchased in Russia for $0.01 :D

Solder, assemble and use!

The same operation can be repeated according to YN560

useful offtop for all flashes (Nikon/Canon etc) - if flash doesn`t fire in short intervals and fires constantly in long inervals between flashes (over 1 minute) means flash tube failure - it becomes covered in cracks and fails (means end of its lifesource)

Here's a tutorial on how to repair the YN-468, which suffers from the same issue. It is well explained and there's plenty of pictures inside. Have a look ;)

Anyone had problems with the "metal foot revision" of YN-560?

i re-read all pages, and appears all defective units have the plastic foot.

anyone can confirm?

Anybody dealt with this store on Amazon?
http://www.amazon.com …?ie=UTF8&m=A14BYA46AJO8R3 (external link)

I'm making a trip to NY (from Canada) on Thursday and am thinking of shipping 2 YN-560's to a UPS store for pickup :)
I know there are cheaper places on Amazon/internet, but I'm figuring at $71/per flash, with free shipping to Ogdensburg by Wednesday, I think that's probably the best deal.

Also, random/stupid question, since I've only dealt with ETTL-II flashes before, I'm assuming manual ones don't really matter whether or the flash is designed for a specific model of Canon, right? These'll be fired using 2 RF602 transmitters, anyways.

That is the store that I got my 560 from. It took 6 days total to get my flash. My only complaint was that the packaging was a bit weak on the inside. They shipped it out fast though, no complaints there and I got the metal foot version like everyone else here pretty much.

Did you opt in for the Amazon Prime shipping and it still took that long?

I just ordered two of these off amazon through BestdealUSA. Hopefully I get them this week and they are the new metal version!

Nope that was NOT Prime shipping. It was simply Standard Shipping. I had read enough posts here about the problems people were having with New Harbor so I opted to pay a bit more NOT to go through them. I would order from Cheaplights/Todd's Travel Photo (the company name that shows up when you order, as seen here (external link)) again if it came to it.
