I have a Manfrotto 190XDB tripod w/ ball head, and was looking for some recommendations for a tripod bag that I can use to carry the tripod on my back, or on my shoulder at the very least -carrying it by hang is getting cumbersome!
Thanks in advance!

I have the Think Tank Humungous Bazooka which is wayyyyy to big for what you need, but they do make exactly the same bag in smaller sizes, in either Bazooka or Big Bazooka.

The quality of the bag is awesome, very well padded, so will protect the tripod from dings and also has a very good zipper (YKK)

I use a bag to STORE my Bogen/Manfrotto 3021 tripod (similar to today's 055XProB) and to keep my tripod and monopod together in the car, but find the bag quite impractical for field carry and use. However, this Long Strap from Manfrotto (external link) makes field carry - either over a single shoulder or across the whole body like I usually carry it - quite practical and easy.

I have the large bazooka. It fits my 190XB with 488 RC and still has room on the top.

Hey Skip, thanks for the link to the strap -that looks like it may work for me!
Do you have a picture of your tripod with the strap on? I'm not sure how it connects to my tripod.

I have this - http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_Quick_Access_Tripod.html (external link) and it's worked great on hikes and urban exploring. You can either unclip it, or just lift it over your head and it stays on the tripod when you shoot.

Edit: It also has enough padding that the tripod doesn't smash into your back, so it's comfortable for hours.

No photo, but there's a screw that's part of the strap kit that screws into the "spider" that supports the three legs. It screws in between two legs.

I also use "leg warmers" on my 3021 which make handling the tripod much nicer in the winter as well as providing some cushioning for my back when I carry the tripod across my back.

I use a strap for my older Manfrotto tripod, it's just a slip loop at one end and a clip at the other. You clip it to the spider, then the loop part goes around the legs. It's handy and offers a nice balance between carry and saving space. The tripod is also really tough so I'm not afraid about scratching the legs.

On my Gitzo I use a Gitzo bag which is padded but honestly, it's a big bag and thinking of going with the strap in the future.

If you need basic storage protection, check out a bag like this.

It's made very very close to the Gitzo bag but a lot cheaper!
