was looking for a used rrs or kirk plate for 5d2, and realized that markins now makes an L plate for 5dII and nikon 7D. Can buy it directly from them or from ebay. I payed 130 through ebay shipped. so far looks very good and fits tightly. As you know, Markins makes very good ball heads, and I am using this with a Q3T ball head. the rrs plate would have cost me 157 after taxes and delivery charge.
If people are interested, I can post images of it, on 5d2

Yeah, post some pics. I'm thinking of getting a Markins M10 with a plate for my 7D. What's the difference in terms of stability and functionality between a regular 7D plate and the L plate for the 7D?

A typical plate only lets you mount the camera in the horizontal position, requiring the use of the drop slot for vertical. The L-bracket allows you to mount the camera in either the horizontal or vertical orientation, without the need to use the drop slot on the ballhead for vertical. This keeps the load centered over the apex of the tripod and results in greater stability as well.

I will post some pics tonight. I will take it out to shoot this week. I have never used any other L plate, so I cant give you a comparison, but I can let you know how it works for me.
