has anyone modify their SLR to shoot infrared photos?


Canon 1DM4,7D, Rebel XT
580 EX II, 430 EX II
Canon 70-200mm IS II L , Canon 85mm F1.2 L II, Canon macro 100mm F/2.8, 18-55mm kit
Sigma 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6, Sigma 10-22mm, Sigma 50mm F/1.4
Sigma 24-70mm F/2.8 EX DG HSM

Yup. My old 20D was worth very little second-hand so I got it converted, although I must admit that I've hardly used it since.

Yes, they're ordinary images - Photoshop doesn't know or care that they're IR. Yes, they do look weird and do require more processing that ordinary images.

Yep. Converted a 20D. Takes great IRs, but native neg size was not big enough, so I converted a 5D.

Interesting. Mine don't look weird at all. I properly custom WB the camera and shots in the camera, when taken, are almost a perfect B&W. Processing is also easier than needed for traditional color for me. Into levels for an adjustment (because the IR histo seems to be more compressed) and then into Nik Silver Efex and it's done.

Perhaps the difference is I'm shooting a standard conversion and you may be working with a false-color IR conversion.
