Read the other posts in this forum. Much has been written about the G11 here.

Yes, shoot RAW. Don't be afraid of ISO settings up to 800. The lens is nice & sharp wide open so don't be afraid to shoot wide open to keep the ISO down and to almost give you some shallow DOF.

It is a very sweet camera. In-camera JPG images are very saturated. I prefer the control I get when shooting RAW.

Take lots of photos and enjoy!
Personally, I would rather spend my time with camera in hand doing photography, rather than sitting at a computer, doing post processing. YMMV

I find the in-built Neutral Density Filter superb for waterfall shots. I'll give you an example of what it can do......
Good luck and enjoy !!!

I just bought a G11 last night for when my XSi is too burdensome (I wanted something more substantial than my old Canon SD1100IS) -- haven't played with it much yet, but took some pics on the low light feature indoors today and they were amazingly sharp! I have a feeling I made the right choice -- it was between a G11 or the SX20IS.

I'm in Vegas right now hauling around my 5D wishing I had bought a G11. Fortunately the show I'm at has a Canon booth and they are giving one away each day. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Damn ScottsGT. I am obviously at the same show but did not know about the drawing. The show ends in 5 minutes. I missed the drawings. !!!

Well, didn't win it. But my counterpart from Clemson University did. I might sell off my 10-22 to buy one since I never use it since I picked up my 5D.
