differences between 430ex and 430ex II?

So looking at getting into some flash photgraphy. i have a canon T1i and was wondering is it worth shelling out the extra money/ are there any advangtes for the 430ex II? or will i not notice much difference with the 430ex?

the 430exII can be controlled via camera menu vs the flash itself.

The 430EXII, can have all of its settings changed via, never cameras, while the original 430EX, you can only change the FEC.

The 430EXII also has a newer locking device, instead of the older twist style. And the Slave switch is gone and you now change that via, holding the zoom button.

Also the mount is metal I heard versus the plastic one in the older model.

I have to say I wish I had the newer one because of the slave switch in the original. Too many times I have accidentally flipped its position without even realizing it.

Thanks guys. I had actually already read that link you posted. Just was asking if anyone had, from experience, any major opinions on which it was necessary to get.

Are both flashes E-TTL? I plan on learning manual flash first but. Still would like to have it in a pinch
