Which would you pick?

(Assume you already have a 70-200 F4L IS and a 17-40L OR 16-35LII.)

I beg to differ, Id go with the 24-105. Wide angle + zoom cant be beat for a walkaround.

35L!!!!! I love walking around with my 30 on my croppers. A 35L (or 50L) on a 5DII would be freakin' awesome!

I chose the 35L option recently.

When I was rocking the 7D, the Sig 30 was on my camera for a good chunk of the time.

With the speed of the 35L over the zoom, it will be much more useful in low light situations, and the available DOF can create more options.

If/when I need the reach, I'll just snap on my 70-200 f/4 IS.

I had both, just sold my 24-105L because it almost always stayed in the bag while the 35L been used most of the time. When I had 24-105L on my 5D it almost always stayed on about 100mm so zooms aren't my thing. If you like zooms 24-105L is a good choice, otherwise pick 35L.

I really like both of these lenses as they compliment each other rather well. Given the OP has a 70-200 f4, I think I would add the 35 L first. Can't go wrong with either one.

why would you recommend the 35 over the 24-105 if the OP has a 70-200? Curious because I might be considering the same move after purchasing a 70-200

The operative word here is walkaround. For an all-purpose lens I use the 24-105. I only use the 35L for wide shooting or indoors. I don't want a prime on my body if I don't know what to expect as far as shot opportunities.
