I am using a Canon EOS 20D with a Canon 70-300mm lens for my birding photography and one of our (My son Liam comes along for the ride) first days out was up to Bempton Cliffs on the East coast

Had a great day out taking pic's of the Puffins, Gannet's and Guillemot's on the cliff edge so thought i would share them with you

Welcome to POTN Simon.
Not the easiest of subject for a bird-in-flight. But you did quite well on the second one.
Was hoping you were showing puffins.

Just for you then David, some Bempton Cliff puffins (not the best images but to be fair they were a long way off lol)

Welcome. Simon. Gannets and puffins are among my favorite birds, but tough to shoot unless really close. I love the composition of the last photo. You're off to a good start and I'm sure this will be good experience for you.

Those are some good looking birds! :)

BTW, my untrained eyes tell me there are some sensor dust on the left side of the picture (see 1st/2nd pics, to the left of the bird's tail).

Welcome to POTN Simon. I've been meaning to get back to Bempton this year but haven't found the time yet. Nice shots but you need to clean your sensor as there are a few dust spots on the gannet shots

Welcome Simon. Nice images even though they appear to be big crops. I visited Bempton Cliffs in 2005 and just missed seeing the puffins by about a week. The gannets were still there in good numbers though.

Welcome Simon, like Stan said, the composition on the last one is very nice. Will you be going back for more? They are spectacular creatures.
