I propose that we list our accessories and if we want show off pics that we have taken with listed items. Like a contest with no prize. I would go first but my stuff hasn' t arrived yet. Anyone game?

Maybe we can throw a photo contest in here to, this site is just a tad bit stuffy, need a little excitement to help throw some life into it.

BTW...This list is not to show off, it isto help newbies get an idea what more experienced people (unlike myself) are using. Perhaps it will even open the dialog that will produce UNDERSTANDING that newbies want but do not have.

We have an opportunity to answer some questions here that people haven't voiced. Well, at least I think it is a good idea. LOL

List your accessories, your software and any books you have purchased that you believe to be useful.

I hope newbies and or a seasoned pros alike, can look at this thread and really understand, or know exactly where they want their photography to go, and know exactly what they need to get it there.

Kind regards - Me newbie too :D

Soon to list...

Some changes in my accessories list, sent back the 58mm lensmate, not going to use Canon Lens, they don't have front thread for filters and cost more, going with Tiffen. Purchased Tiffen's Telepboto and Wide Angle lens, so far extremely happy. All the rest to my list is the same. I started this post, and seem to be the only one posting. OH WELL !!!!

:(

What are the specs on the Tiffen Telephoto lens? Could you share a link to it or a review of it?

I'm thinking of getting the Kenko KND-20 to use on my 52mm LensMate.

Thanks!

Ogo,

Sure, here is the link but I purchased my lens from Curcuit City and paid $10 less :)

Kenko does not have a front thread, therefore, you cannot use filters with your lens. Not sure if that is important to you but it was to me that is why I chose Tiffen, Canon's lens also does not have front threads.

Thank goodness for Tiffen. LOL

BH Photo have them and they are great link for both sizes:

Frederique,

You are using the 43mm Tiffen 2x?? Have you tried it from 34-140mm (full wide to full telephoto)? ANY vignetting, and if so, where does it start, stop??
This lens seems to get good reviews from owners, I'm just thinking the 43mm is kind of small...
Can you post some pics at full wide and full telephoto with your 2X telephoto??

Regards,
Kerry

The Kenko KNT-20 does have threads on the front, it uses 67mm filters.

Although I have a G2, almost all of my accessories would work with a G3.

420EX Flash
G2 Lensmate adapter with 49 to 52mm stepup ring
52mm UV and polarizing filters
Kenko KNT-20 teleconverter
Haven't needed a wide angle lens yet
67mm UV and polarizing filters (for the KNT-20)
Sandisk 512 Mb compactflash card
Large generic camera bag for general storage
Lowepro Nova Mini for hiking trips
Hiking staff / monopod for outdoor panorama pictures
The leather fitted camera case - doesn't fit over the Lensmate, but I leave the base on to protect the edges of the camera form scrapes and dings.
Larger, wider camera strap. The original strap is too narrow for comfort if you are using it for any length of time.

I have Kenko KNT-20 2x tele and Tiffen o.75x 43mm Megaplus wide converters. Both Kenko and Tiffen have front 67mm filter thread. I also have two 52mm Lensmate adapters. Planning to buy another one (also considering Kenko's), so I will have an adapter attached to each lens for easy changing without lots of screwing and unscrewing.
I am planning to test the tele and wide converters this weekend.

DNHayashida,

Sorry, I must have looked at another kenko that clearly said there was NO FRONT MOUNT THREAD or perhaps the Canon, now I am confused. :)

I looked at lensmate site and it does have front thread however, the Canon does not. Well, I am glad you cleared that up for us and you have a great accessories list too.

You are very fortunate too in that you can use your accessories, now you can just buy new stuff that you absolutely must have without bothering to buy all your old stuff all over again.

Thanks again for setting me straight.

Big Smiles,

onehotrx7,

Now, that is an impressive list. There is no way I would buy any new accessories either. OMG!! Seems to me you have EVERYTHING under the sun and what you didn't buy you made. Very resourceful. I am not sure if I want my list to be that long, my back could not hold all of that. :)

Another question-how do you like that Velbon Maxi-E tripod?? I am looking at the same one-no braces for the center pole, quick release, and all metal head-simple. Is it pretty stable with your camera mounted-no moving/play once everything is tightened down? It should be...

I hope the stuff I have will work with the G4 or whatever Canon is going to call the next camera. My plan is to skip over the G3 and wait for the G4. When I bought my G2 the G3 was already out, and the G2 prices were taking a nose-dive. Both G2 and G3 are 4Mp cameras. So I went for the cheaper camera while I wait for the 5 or 6 Mp camera to come out. Hopefully The G4 will have a better zoom also, perhaps 6X or better? Is that too much to hope for?
