I did check and I see others have posted similar photos, so I'm assuming "mature flowers" (that is seed heads) count too. Two similar looking seed heads from different plants. The first is the dandelion. The second is a wild salsify. The salsify is also known as goatsbeard or oyster plant, supposedly because the roots taste like oysters.

There is some really beautiful stuff in this thread. Here's one I photographed last week at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton Md. Next week I'm going up to "Lily Ponds" in Adamstown, MD to photography the water lilies and the lotus blossoms. Should have some nice shots to post then.
