Picked up a Russian 1950s 50mm Jupiter 8 not long ago. It is in surprisingly good shape. Took it out just a little while ago one my Leica M-E to test it out. All were shot wide open at f/2. There was heavy overcast with a slight drizzle so the park down the street was empty.

Amazing a lens that old still performs. I've had several Canon and Sigma lenses fail after a few years. (Of course, they don't get "kid gloves" treatment in my possession.)

It was and still is a very cheap lens. They go for $100 or less. They are single coated and a Russian Zeiss clone. So if you are looking for a lens that will give your images a real vintage look, warts and all, this is a fun lens. It definitely isn't the sterile look of many modern lenses.
