Pippan Cream of the Crop More info | Aug 04, 2018 22:45 | #7297 avondale87 wrote in post #18677542 Thanks Graham I'd edited my original post. Edit: these are intriguing plants and as requested add more detail. Not all my words. Trigger plant is characterised by an asymmetrical fused corolla and the presence of two stamens fused to the style to form a column. This column, upon irritation, moves across to trap (brand them with pollen) insects as part of a pollination strategy. Basically when an insect alights to collect the nectar the little 'prong' in the centre flies out, hits the insect and puts pollen on the insect who takes it onto the next Trigger Plant. My daughter used to (still does) love teasing the poor things with a small frond. Size wise these plants are about 35 to 45cm, 14 to18" tall, occasionally less or more. The flower shown would be about 8 to 11 mm, ⅜" to ½" across. They vary in intensity of colour from lightish to deep pinky purple tinges. Thanks Richard, I think their method of pollination is fascinating and of course you can trigger them with a stick or leaf and, if you're quick, see the stamen fly over. Kids love it. Our trigger flowers are a bit smaller than yours it seems, maybe 5-8 mm across. Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

There are several of same species but just differ in appearance. I was playing with my EM-5 and an old Pentax 55/1.8 with a Fotodiox adapter (PK-m4/3) Had it for a while but never took it serious. Until now
