The white against the black is really cool looking Sibil. Very nice shot.

Nice flower indeed.
Is it a Centaury? Centaurium...
Usually on poor soil, dry grassland, on dunes & at edges of woods...

Got that from a book of dads. Not from my expertise

I think you are right, habitat fits too.

I went through two book field guides and some on line ones and could not identify it!

Thanks for that.

Well that was a pleasant surprise.

It's from the 'Field guide to the wild flowers of Britain, by Reader's Digest.
Beautifully coloured illustrations.
A friend bought it back and gave it to dad in 1981.

Yes just checked in my Collins Complete British Wildflowers, and it is there with two very clear photos, it was just the bloke using it.....

While I was photographing this flower (Morning Glory, I believe), along my back fence, an unexpected visitor showed up. He (Green Anole) seemed to want his picture taken, so, two subjects for a single effort. Handheld, high white overcast, stopped down to gain some DOF, slightly cropped.

These two shots are so exquisite, Mike. The morning glory is truly gorgeous, and the green anole adds so much "flavor" to the images. Great photography!!
