I was thinking that it looks like a geranium but the flowers look smaller than the pics I see (via Google) of Geranium Maculatum.

Beautiful colourful garden.

Definitely Columbine or Acquilegia. Beautiful flowers in many variations.

My wife and Dad get all the credit, they work a lot of hours to make it look so good. I’m just the indirectly compensated team photographer.

Actual recreation of a discussion some time ago...

Me: “Honey, I want to spend $650 on a new camera lens... “ (EF 100mm f2.8L Macro)

Wife: ”That’s a lot of money, don’t you have enough lenses? “

Me: “I don’t have a good macro lens, it’s a good deal, $100 off the regular price”

Wife: “Still that is a lot of money, what is macro anyway? “

Me: “It is for super close focusing for bugs and stuff to show fine details”

Wife: “You don’t take pictures of bugs, I don’t think you need it”

Me: “Not just bugs, also things like close ups of flower blossoms”

Wife: “So you could take nice pictures of my garden???”

Me: “Yes dear, for your flowers”

Wife: “Well in that case, ok- can you get it by Friday? It’s going to be sunny this weekend and xyz is in bloom. I’d love pictures to show my friends. Also, if I bought some frames, could we put pictures of xyz in the hallway? I’d really like a picture of my whatever in the bathroom, and....”

I got green lighted for a second R body while on vacation when I pointed how much easier it would be taking pictures at the botanical gardens if I wasn’t constantly swapping lenses. Surprising how much easier it is for her to get on board when there is a benefit she can relate to.

I love it!

That won’t work at my house because my hubby is more camera literate than me. However he seldom complains when I get more camera gear because he uses it as an excuse for another gun.

Multiple bodies are a must if your shoot a lot. I spend time shooting photos at the gun range and due to all the dirt I never change lenses outside.

We've got loads in the back of the garden, the flowers vary from appr. 0.5 to 1.5 cm. I'll try to post some photos tomorrow.
