Baked hydrangea - not much in bloom in the backyard now, but I was fascinated by the texture of this sun-baked hydrangea after a long July heat wave.

I think this is a gaillardia variant. Direct sun. It was interesting trying to control highlights. No clarity/vibrance/satur​ation adjustment although the camera standard profile adds fair bit of contrast.

Brachychiton paradoxus is a small, deciduous tree growing in the Top End's woodland. After its large leaves drop, when the rain stops at the end of the wet season, these colourful flowers appear on the bare wood.
