Is this just in my head...or something I can compensate for?

My Rx is up to date. But, I really DON'T get well focused pictures when my glasses on. For any serious picture taking, I really need to switch into my contacts. I think it's at least partially bc it's easy to look around the glasses at some angles. But, I think it may also something about the little extra distance from the view finder....

Any thoughts?

I pop my glasses on top of my head when shooting. I can see better without them on, at least close up. But even with them on, just let the AF do it's thing. It's going to focus better than you can most of the time anyway.

I've never had a problem with it. I just make sure to peek over the top of the glasses when I look through the viewfinder and when I'm checking the lcd. I've got the lenses that change to sunglasses when exposed to sunlight, so I have to be sure to peek over the top. It's worked pretty well for me and I don't even realize I'm doing it anymore.

I think I'm a little too blind to look over the top of them. As a matter of fact, I know I am! (My Rx is -3 full diopters in my right--dominant--eye.)

I Was going to say just have them not look directly at the camera and the reflections are much less but I realized you meant the photographer! I leave mine on all the time I am awake ceptin shower time . Photoshop is no help on getting rid of reflections in eyeglasses at least so far for me. But I do keep trying to fix that problem.

I'm still curious why your glasses would make a difference. Are you manually focusing?

Yes, I do like manual focus. Usually not a wise option with the glasses on.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. I wear contacts everyday and I find that on the days when I wear my glasses, its hard to shoot. I feel like I'm blind if I take the glasses off and find it uncomfortable to put the viewfinder up to my glasses.

In bright sun it makes it difficult to see my exposure reading. I've got no choice though as I can't see without them and contacts are not an option.

I've never had problems since they're Rx I always shoot with them on. I have some issues manually focusing from time to time but it's not related to the glasses, just my lack of experience judging focus and sharpness as well as the camera can.

I don't do any MF (at least not with the DSLRs that I own).. looking at the red dot for AF seems to be just fine with my glasses. Unless you have a 5D or 1D or something I think MF isn't the easiest thing even for people with good eyes.

I've also noticed that I focus/compose better when I take my glasses off and use the diopter to compensate...even better than when I wear my contacts!
