Hey everyone....

An ideas been on my mind for a little while now about replacing my old workhorse lens with a new(or at least newer) 24-105...

95% of my work now involves off camera lighting, or a flash of some sought...but that being said its Mostly Music and Editorial, which really is 2.8 territory,

I have no problem with pushing up the ISO on the 5D II, ISO 4000 ƒ4 looks just fine to me... I'd like to get down to a much more simplistic shooting style, I have the Kata Sling bag, which is the smallest bag I can fit a Probody with Lens.... One Lens, One Flash + Turbo Battery and a second bag for my 28" Apollo and a Stand.... for some nice on location portraitures...

I have the 24-105 and 24-70 but use the 24-105 far more often. I've also tried the Tamron 28-75 and found it to be similar (not in build) to the 24-70. You should consider a 24-105 and possibly add a 28-75 (~$300 used) down the line

Well anything that isnt satisfying you with the 28-70? Are you wanting more range? Im sure that ISO4000 does look fine on the 5dmk2, but im sure that ISO2000 looks even better. The IS isnt going to help when you need the shutter speed and sometimes I find that a stop gone can be a big deal. Thats the difference of a usable 3200 and might be able to use 6400 (on my 7D that is)

Nothing wrong with switching. Plenty of people like the extra range and IS of the 24-105 to the higher speed of the 28-70.

I chose the 24-70 over the 24-105 because of the extra stop as I shoot a lot of concerts. The 24-70 also gives me nicer bokeh (in my opinion) than the 24-105. It was worth the extra $200 for me.

Well on the full frame F4 is going to give you just as much OOF blur as my 7d has with a 2.8 lens...so if you think you can pull it off having an F4 go for it.

I have a 24-105 and use my 50mm 1.4 whenever the need arises for bokeh, shallower DOF, or low light.

I've been shooting in a lot more venues that let me use a flash lately, and well a whole lot more of the album cover/ promo end of the business lately rather then live shows... honestly can't say I'm upset about that lol.

Here's what I did when trying to decide between 24-105 and 24-70: got the 24-105 AND Sigma 30mm f/1.4 for bokeh. Now what can u say about the f/1.4? ;)
I got my 24-105 really cheap brand new for $820, and spent another $385 on the Sigma 30mm. Total cost = $1205. Total satisfaction = pri$ele$$

The TC has a 28-70L, which supposedly is even sharper than the 24-70L. I wouldn't trade that up for a 24-105L anyway - I'd rather footzoom a little when I need that extra reach.
