Sweet,
Man I wish I was born with an extra finger so I could play one.
Perhaps these were made for Hemingway cats?

So you play the 4 finger guitar then?

Despite being the highest priced I do not think that the D3x is Nikons best camera I agree, id be all over a D700 or the D700's successor..I dont like integrated grips... Gear, New and Old! I don't think I'd by a camera with a portrait grip attached either. It would be cool if Canon just had a button that rotated the sensor 90 degrees.. Taylor

That doesn't specify orientation, as it IS a circular projection. Why not just make a 36x36mm sensor and read it out however you need for the orientation/format you want? Read out 24x36, or 36x24, or 30x30...

In the film days, there was a 24×24mm square format for 35mm (135) film, but it never caught on. You can easily simulate this by cropping your pictures to a centered square. One other thing, the image circle is not circular with all lenses, especially when hooded. yeah I think that is nice, switch for portrait or landscape orientation...

It is an increase in sensor size and therefore cost, but the cost of manufacturing these types of devices has been steadily going down, so you never know if we'll see something like that one of these days.
