Can you shoot in the dark from a moving boat handheld? In the middle of a jungle? When it's cloudy? And dark?

I simply cannot stomach Nikon's attitude, which also seems to be common with a lot of Nikonians. I did own a Nikon high-end, high-zoom P&S years ago, but they don't have a prayer in Hell of selling me a camera again unless their attitude changes. Lens lineups, however, are never complete. Anyone who really loves photography and DSLRs knows that. Our lens lineup will grow throughout the indefinite future. Even if we were to win the Powerball and be able to buy all the lenses we want in one fell swoop, they are always coming out with new ones. I just hope my camera will work flawlessly for the next few years so I don't have to deal with warranties etc. Our warranty systems here suck whether Nikon or Canon. although Canon is a bit better.

While it is not Canon's best "L" lens by any means, it does beat any of the non-"L" Canon lenses for IQ, and it is the best 28-300mm superzoom on the market, bar none. If you could only have one lens for travel (or whatever), it is an excellent choice.

I think I am one of them

Hey, if you want to shoot Nikon, go for it. Just avoid the putting down of anything else with the many false and/or relative statements that seem to be common on this thread.

It's the Nikon attitude I can't stand, not the cameras. The cameras are quite good in their respective price ranges, but I still won't buy one. who are you talking about? Never been to Nikonians, but most other forums are not as lively, friendly as here.

I remember when Nikonians.org was a free site and once I got in there to ask for help, the were rude and obnoxious. That was the last time I ever go in there. NikonCafe is ok but, not as lively here.

I just did a repeat composition today with my Lee Big Stopper 10 stop ND. Today's light was real nice and I wanted to see if my 16-35 II would vignette with that filter. Judging from my LCD, it looks like it didn't. The only way to know is when I view it at home
