The church isn't straight. It's really old and the steeple is slanting weird, the whole building slants a little and it's on a hill to boot. Everytime I try to use perspective or distort something else goes wonky. I'm good at tedious cloning but that has me stumped.

Edit-->Transform-->Warp might help. I've had success with it in similar cases.

I ended up needing to copy and paste and rotate and more cloning and such, but it looks straighter now. (although not perfect) And thanks to the encouragement here, I was able to find the patience to do it. :)

This edit looks even better, in my opinion. I wonder if someone can try CS5's new Content Aware Fill on this pic to see what it can do?

Very nice work. The cleanup is really impressive. That definitely had to take some time
and patience. The addition of balloons, would not been apparent if you hadn't told us.

A great Image of a happy moment.

A fantastic job on the clean up, certainly a patient person.

My only "gripe" if you like (and I in no way want to take away the achievement of the OP - the picture is lovely), is to ask why straighten a building that is actually leaning? We have a church in a town called Chesterfield, and it has a Crooked Spire...it's had a crooked spire for many many years...it's one of the defining things about the town. Would you straighten that?

Just wondered.

If it was a well known feature, no - as far as I knew, although the church is historic, it isn't known for being crooked, I was mainly worried that our photograph was accentuating the crookedness of the building

And thank you for all the kind comments, it gets frustrating with a big job like that one, but at the same time it's so fascinating flipping back and forth between the original and the one that's touched up that I can't resist most of the time.

a combination of the clone stamp and the patch tool. most of it was done at around 200 or 300 percent zoom
