Hey guys,

I’m currently shopping around for a new Circular Polarizer filters.

Things that I’m looking for:

1) Water-proof to repel water spots
2) Scratch and stain resistant
3) Better contrast
4) Easy to wipe/clean
5) No vignetting for WA lens (35L on my 5D II and Tokina 11-16 with 7D)

My current three choices are:

These two are similar in price.

1) B+W Circular Polarizer MRC
2) Hoya HD Digital Circular Polarizer

A little more in price but, is it a better quality than the standard MRC CPL? Other than being completely edge-sealed?

3) B+W Kaesemann MRC Circular Polarizer

I have the Hoya Pro1D and HD polarizers and both are awesome. Both have front threads and work great. Good prices at the site www.2filter.com (external link) This is a shop in New Hampshire and they ship fast, good folks to deal with. Ordered from them many times. The Hoya HD in 77 mm is $160 and the Pro1D is $110 at 2filter. I don't have much of a preference between them to be honest. Both work great.

Thanks. Have you had to clean the glass before?

If so, how easy was the cleaning? Did it leave any smudge?

Based on the CPL review results here - http://lenstip.com …_Results_and_summary.html (external link) - I have just bought a Marumi DHG Super CPL for what seems to be a reasonable price (£70). I bought it to replace my Hoya Pro-1 CPL which now looks like this....

.... following an altercation with a concreate road.

I chose the Marumi over another Hoya, based on the test results at Lenstip, although I never had a problem with the Hoya. I don't have an ultra-wide to test it with for vignetting but it is low profile and I would expect it to do the job. IQ tests with my 70-200/2.8L IS look good.

Here is a profile comparison....

Anyone with B+W Kaesemann Polarizer filters, are you able to tell the difference between B+W Kaesemann Polarizer MRC vs. the B+W Polarizer MRC? (On the Kaesemann filter, does it say that on the side of the filter?

I've got the 72mm B+W KSM MRC. Looking at your gear list, the extra $ for the filter shouldn't bother you. I've cleaned mine with a micro cloth and a lens pen. No problems.

It'll have "KSM" on the inside rim along with "C-POL," the size, etc.
