Using the Sigma 150-500 and a Kenko 1.4x TC, thought I would attempt my first 700mm moon shot since it was a full moon and clear sky. Manual focus takes a bit to get used to with that much lens and the moon bouncing around...lol I still feel I missed the focus a bit, but I'm happy with the result overall.

I think that the focus was very good, if not perfect. I think that a bit more exposure would help -- sometimes and underexposed image can be mistaken for out of focus. Maybe just a tad of USM output sharpening would help. Try 60, 0.4, 0. Sharpen on a duplicate layer and then add a mask so that you can paint out the sharpening on the limb.

Curious - Can you use live view with contrast focus when you stack TC's on top of 400mm (or 500mm in your case) or that does not work?
I realize "normal" focus won't work past certain aperture (f8?), not sure about contrast focus.

Yes, it works just fine.
