Robert...how positive are you that this is the female? I'm trying to prove a theory by looking at known males and females to see if the "big mouth" theory is correct for iding a male or female?

Looks like she was keeping her eyes on you...great series.

Well, her size is one thing. Been seeing a fair amount of them now that she seems to be the one sitting around the nest now that the eaglets are at 10 weeks old. Dad does a fly around at times i have been there but never seen him land lately.

Guess i have never heard that theory yet. The one thing i think is with the mouth open so much this day is, that it was hot and she was maybe panting a bit trying to keep cool. She never made a sound the 3hrs i was there. Dad flew over and made some noise for a bit though.

Yes she was watching me, but very relaxed. Also watching the golfers. Every time someone would tee off, she heard it and looked that direction.

I thought during some of the hotter weather at NBG cam, i seen both do the wider mouth then also. Interesting theory though i guess to maybe look into.

Thanks Duane, much appreciated.

Hi Duane, you may be on to something. The bill depth at base is larger in females.

It's not my theory....a member on here (HTR) helped me tell the difference with the Eagles I follow and I'm trying to see if it applies to other Eagles or just the pair I follow.
