Hi,

I've had the Dell for a couple weeks now, on the most part it's great.
With some photo's however I've come across some posterization in the colours compared to my cheap TN panel sat next to it. It's not major but it's definitely there.

It happens in all software, Photo Viewer, Photoshop, Lightroom etc...

Could this be down to a calibration issue? (I haven't hardware calibrated) or could it be a dodgy panel?

Have you tried up dating your video card drivers?

The B&W Evaluation image found here is very challenging Download this image and view it in Photoshop at full size. I've found that if your colors are accurate, this B&W image will look outstanding, with imperceptible banding, great contrast, and excellent shadow detail.

Drivers are brand new, and the problem only occours on certain images, and only on the Dell, not any other monitor used on the PC.

I had a look at the download you linked, cheers for that. It looks fine, nothing wrong with that at all.. much better than my other monitor without the posterization issues.

Anyone have any idea's as to why some images or maybe some colours are acting strangely? Could a hardware calibration fix the problem?

Does this only happen with YOUR processed images or all images. Again, it's best to use one of the many downloadable standardized test images for assessing the quality of your display or print output.

Remember that the 2209WA is an sRGB gamut monitor and all images should be judged at 100% size.

I've only noticed it on my images yeah... maybe by coincidence, I've downloaded grad-tests and the monitor seems fine for most things... just some of my images look horrible on the Dell
