Hello eveybody.

I've found a S/H 40D which has been used until 8000 shutter.
Its price about $ 750-800.
Price may makes difference from country to country. However my main concern about shutter number. Is it high or low, after this shutter number, how long can I use it ?

8000 clicks is very low. The 40D shutter life is rated at 100,000 actuations by Canon. And if the shutter dies at some point, you can have it replaced at a relatively low cost (about $200, I think). Besides, the shutter can last 300,000 clicks or only 50,000 clicks, if you're unlucky. 8000 is nothing.

The price sounds a little high unless it comes with extras you are not mentioning. I see them posted on the sell section here all the time for $525-650.

Depends, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars, American dollars... sounds high in USD, even a bit high in CND.

8000 shutter activations is quite low, however some 40D's have early shutter failure under 20000 so you can never really tell. If it works now then assume you may need to have it repaired at some point. It is used. Figure a $250 shutter replacement into the price over buying a new 50D or something like that to see if it is worth it. If you could buy a new xxD camera for $1000 then it may not be worth it.

Goes for $500-$650 @ Ebay, some with advertised lower shutter count (less than 5k clicks)

I live in Turkey.
I've just realised this price is really high beside other countries

I'm not sure whether I'll buy it. However let's say I've made a resolution to buy it, how can I check it whether it's worth to buy or not ? Are there some fundamental techniques ?

take pictures at all shutter speeds and aperture and have a look at them to make sure the shutter and aperture work properly at all settings. that's about all you really need to check other than that all the parts are there, isn't too dirty or scratched up.

Problem with buying a used equpiment or any equipment for that matter is theres always a chance its mechanics will fail on you. The risk is higher for used equipment(s). Not too scare you or anything of course because there are also a lot of owners out there that takes absolute care of their cameras, like me for example. Just make sure when you're buying an item, the owner has a very good feedback or maybe the owner can actually provide records that he takes good care of the camera like receipts from Canon's service center confirming the body has been serviced. Some stores also provide a 30-60 day warranty, thats better than nothing.

Actually it will be my first DSLR if i buy it, so it hard for me to understand whether all these shutter and apeture values working properly.

Hi!
I don't really understand the prices on photo equipment.
Norway is considered as a high cost country, but I recentley
bought my 50D for about 800$ (new).
The same price for a used 40D seems a little bit high,
considering the extra functions on the 50D.

Regards, Villy

40D's sell $500-$650 these days used, even with low clicks that price is too high.
