So I slapped on my 580exII. Set it to manual. Flash output is 1/128.
I set my camera to aV mode with 2.8 speed.
For some reason, the shutterspeed is locked to 1/8000. The camera will not adjust the shutterspeed to get the correct exposure. Why?

May 29, 2010 16:01 | #3 In manual mode, the camera does not know what the exposure should be so it just go all the way up to max shutter speed. I assume that you have the high speed sync on, otherwise it will be set to 1/200th max. Put it on TTL and then it will work(but the shutter will expo for ambiante unless you set the custom function to 1/200th fixed). Put it on tv and it will lock at 1/200th max, but anything below that you can use. "I work from awkwardness. By that I mean I don't arrange things.
