I have a sea kayak and I want to mount a small underwater camera to it (just a fuji P&S), what small cheap tripod would you guys reccomend? Maybe a knock off gorilla pod?

Thanks

now this I can help with

1st go on eBay and buy a cheap ball head about $4

now you have a few choices depending on what you want to do
I would sugest getting a section of 1.5 in PVC pipe with a flat endcap mount the ball head on the end cap with marine goop or the like then mount the endcap on the pipe about 6-12 in of pipe ( longer will work but will flex some

now if your kayak has fishing pole holders this will fit right into one - wrap the PVC pipe on duct tape to make it snug in the holder
make sure to add a bungi to the camera strap and the kayak so it dosent fall of if u flip

if you don't have a pole holder I recomend getting a cheap deck mount type they can be found on eBay for about $8 to mount you cut a hole for the holder to fit into and then glue the top part to the deck with goop or such

of if you want to get real fancy get a rocket pod mount this is a ball you attach to the deck and has an arm that can rotate with a fishing pole in it - in this case you would add your PVC pipe camera mount ( rember duct tape and bungie) this would allow you to add 3-4 balls to your deck 1 in front 1 in back and sides ect.. And move the camera around between them - you can also add a fishing pole or 2 and go trolling ( www.aquahunters.com (external link) )

If you don't want to go the DIY route, there's always the Fat Gecko Mini. (external link)

I've got a larger one for my camera, mounts easily, holds well, and not too bad for $30! :)
