I'm between these two monopods (Benro MC-91EX and MC-91M8 ) and I can't decide whether to go for the twist locks or the flip levers.

Actually, I want the twist locks, but that means getting the deployable feet that not only I don't like, but they add a lot of weight to the monopod, which almost defeats the whole purpose of paying more than twice the price of the Alu version for the CF one.

Not only I don't like the fact of the added weight, but I also don't like the increased length when collapsed and how the feet of the monopod looks (call me freak :p).

Does anyone have any of these? I'd like to see some real world pictures and, if possible, some pictures of the feet of the M8 (twist locks) version.

Thanks everyone!

Sorry Nicolas, dont have either... but in regard to flip vs twist lock... i thought flips were the best... but my gitzo proved to me that twists are not bad at all... both my travel tripod and monopod are twist lock types.

My tripod also has twist locks, but I don't judge twist locks based on that tripod's as it is a U$D 55 one and it isn't good at all...

Too bad that Benro does not exist where I live, but maybe I should try going to the Gitzo dealer and try the twist locks there.

Thanks!

I have one with twist locks bought off ebay for about $140. The extra weight is insignificant, especially in comparison to the weight of the gear on top. Bear in mind that carbon doesn't slide easily like aluminum so there's no quick deployment advantage of flip locks over twist. I've had no issues with mine and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I'm happy enough with Benro that I bought one of their tripods yesterday... a C-297 carbon.

Can I have pics, please? :D

Mainly of the foot and the legs system. Thanks!

Upon checking mine's the MC68 M8 not the 91.

Foot is a plastic cap, which I think is fine for a monopod since you are always holding it, unlike a tripod where sometimes spikes are an advantage on soft ground.

Just checked on eBay, it's only 85-95 bucks! And it has what I want, twist locks and no folding legs... I may give it a go, thanks!

Regarding the plastic cap that covers the end of the monopod, do you think that is sold separate? Because I may get the 91 or 96 and chop off the folding legs and then put one of this covers on.
