Owners of Gitzo GT1541T, GT1550T, or the likes, any solutions to the narrow feet?

do you guys have any solution to the narrow feet of these tripods?
my GT 1550T is about 1/2" wide and i'm sure, when weighted, it'll be more than happy to start sinking into soft grounds...

was thinking about rummaging through Home Depot for some kind of feet alternatives...

thoughts and recommendations much appreciated.

Get some pet food can plastic covers. I carry 3 in the back pockets of my bags. Just set the tripod up on them.

These might work, havent tried them, but was thinking about it... LINK (external link)

I had a set for my manfrotto setup. Similar design idea, worked great. They are designed for multiple sized legs, so they might fit the travelers tripods.

My first thought too ;-)a

The plastic lid idea sounds iffy to me -- seems like they're too slippery for a secure grip.

The BH link says they will fit 1 series tripods, so perhaps they will fit the 1541 that I have. I'm going to the beach to shoot next week so I'm going to try them.

I don't know if you all are aware, but those feet are six inches in dia each. And at least a pound in weight all together. Very bulky to travel with. They are so wide I wonder if the sticks would slide on snow for example like three little snowboards.

I think the stick will be more steady if they are pushed into the sand or snow without these feet.

So you got them already? Post some pics!

Yea, when I have shot on sand, I just stuck the legs into it and got more stability from it. For mud or snow I would do the same except with my tripod leg covers on. However I might still pick up a set of these just to have around... Never know, there might be an instance thatll come up when their just the ticket.

Bring a sheet of plywood or masonite to put the tripod on.

initially, i thought you meant a 4x8' sheet... and was going to say.. beats the purpose of a portable tripod... but then again... lol.. circular saws... hahaha
