Today I finally had the chance to use my 7D for what I bought it to do, shoot Radio control fun fly events. This was to be a test of the AF, decide which AF points to use, and in general see if I thought it could perform on par with my other bodies. At first things looked good, but after a while things went way down hill, to the point that I thought it had a shutter problem because things "showed" as underexposed, or not exposed at all on the LCD. After several different shots I tried a different lens but that didn't help, so I packed up & came home, removed the lens & watched the mirror flip up, and saw the shutter do it's thing so I set the camera aside & downloaded the photos. Turns out that CR2's look pretty normal, but the jpg's (set to save large fine + RAW) are seriously dark. The histogram for the CR2's are more or less what I'd expect considering just how much sky each shot has, but the jpg has the histogram jammed to the left, and the shot looks like it's seriously underexposed even though it's the very same file as the CR2.
This is one of many that are similar, and I've marked the CR2 before letting Picasa turn it into a jpg without any adjustments, and it looks very much like the CR2 does on my screen. The jpg is exactly as processed by the camera, but the resolution of both are reduced for the web. ANY IDEAS???
