Hello.

Is it possible to set Photoshop (CS5) so that it remember my choices in dialog boxes? PS remember lot of them, but not all, for example, if I do serie of photos and save all in tiff format, when I open Save As dialog, I would like that there will be preselected tiff and not psd format.

thx

As far as I can see you cannot set a default file type to save to. I think that Adobe has done a fair job of improving usability of Photoshop. I like the fact that you can set in your preferences to either save to the original folder the file was opened from. If you leave this untagged it will remember where you last saved a photo and go to that folder.

Photoshop document (PSD) is the first option in the drop down and quite honestly I think that it defaults to this because it is their program and they will want us using their developed format. I don't find it too hard to open the drop down and change to whatever format I need but I agree it would be nice if they made it an option.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

My old PS7 does default to TIFF in the "Save As" dialogue. Whether thats because I've set some preference donkeys years ago or simply because its remembering the previous settings I simply cannot remember.

You could record a simple action, but when dealing with the Save As dialog there are some "gotchas" that deal with things like file naming and destination folders and such. But if it's worth it to you, read up a bit on actions and the Save As dialog and you should be able to get something running.
