Anyone else do this ? Any suggestions ?
Yesterday I was given a group family shot . [most of people have died]
Anyway others want copies .
Using the 17-55 - too reddish . With flash - bright spot-[probably another name for it]
Have not tried with fill flash yet or other lenses .
I used the monopod @ about 3 feet and croped out other stuff .
I have a few I have taken in Mexico and at other houses , but only the P&S cameras seem to take good shots .
Know of a book that explains how to do this better ?
Thanks for any suggestions

set up a tripod above the photograph, make sure the photo is completely flat, set up lighting so it is even on all edges of the photograph, window light from a northern facing window will work, make sure there isn't glare on the print, don't use flash, set your white balance to the daylight setting, take the photograph. Worked for me when putting together a video slideshow from old prints of myself growing up.

viewing-the-invisible - thanks - I used a monpod and print was tilted . What lens did you use ? I set the 17-55 at 552 2.8 and 400 - lots of artifacts / snow .
Little red globes / solid circles - but they were also in orginal . Playing with in photoshop .

Are they behind glass?
That would be an issue.

Scanning would be ideal, my scanner cans to TIFF files.

I have photographed, photographs with great success and nothing special in the way of equipment.

A job for a good copy stand!

However they were not behind glass, and if the were framed we removed them from the frame.

HOWEVER - it's possible after a long time the photographs became STUCK to the glass, and that sucks. Just be careful handling them! ;)

Most are hanging on walls in Mexico . These [most] are of relatives that have died .
I try to go to Mexico every year to visit the wifes relatives and get the shots . The only time the pictures come off walls are to paint the walls . frames are as old as the pictures and there is no way I want to be the one that messes up their pictures .
When I get a good shot - they wife will give away as fast as I can have them printed . I left a 4X6 printer there a few years ago and take fresh paper and ink every year .
Once in a while I go visiting here [In Calif.] when we go to a wedding or funeral / party etc . Stuck with the monopod in houses - tripod takes up to much room . If really lucky can take pictures while everyone is eating .
