This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new editing tricks.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture, re-sized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being re-sized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #288".

This game will end at 7PM BST on Thursday , June 3rd. Have fun!

- Cropped to straighten and cloned in some the the borders areas ( I didn't want to loose too much of the image).
- Cloned out the sign pole
- Added a little blue to the sky
- Using Viveza, I brightened up some of the dark areas of the image
- Working on a duped layer, I sharpened up only the statue by using a mask to leave the background alone
- I thought I was done but looking at it again I decided to add a little sunshine to the scene

Heres my try....

cloned out the pole.
added a duplicate layer set to multiply.
added a mask layer for the sky. filled in black.
merged photo of the moon into mask layer.
added a blue lighting effect.
burned shadows on statue and blacked out bottom of picture.

I know that only the first one counts for the comp., but this is what I first envisioned when I saw the original picture; however, I wasn't sure how much of the original picture had to be used for the competition.

Anyway, I created a layer with the graveyard picture. Desated graveyard pic. Cut out statue and added a white glow with paintbrush and then turned down the layer opacity of the statue layer. Merged layers and created a border layer.

Not many to go at this week but thanks to Palladium and jb2u for their entries.

Palladium - This is almost like what I ended up with myself so naturally I like it a lot. Well done - you win.
jb2u - I really liked the creativity of number one. I see where you are going with number two (and great border - suits it well) but there's not enough of the original there for me to make a judgement.

Over to you Palladium!
