I searched and couldn't really find anything. The 16-35mm f/2.8L Mk1 is substantially cheaper whenever one pops up online, is there that much of a difference between the Mk1 and Mk2? What are the differences?

I did a Google search on "Canon 16-35 i vs ii" and found the info on another forum. I'm not sure if I could post the URL, since it's another photo forum, but here's what I saw...

Weather sealing is a big one, USM ring motor added for faster/quieter focus, and best of all the lens has been redesigned to correct softness at the edges (important on the 5D).

Color contrast, flaring, and color refraction have been improved, but I think the sharpness in the corners was the major upgrade.

...the new one also has a wider filter mount to avoid vignetting if using thicker filters or mounting two filters.

The newer version is better at the edges. As you shoot full frame you would notice the difference. I am happy with my MKI as I shoot a 1.3 crop and have several 77mm filters(the MKII takes 82mm)

Well that answers my questions. There is a mk1 on my local craigslist for $800 and I was thinking about picking it up to save about $450 or so, but I guess that would be a not so great idea. Thanks guys!
