Should I crop the grass out of the bottom of this one?

I think overall these photos lack a little pop/contrast. They definitely have potential via post processing.

#1: Looks like there's too much green. (?) I would crop tighter
#2: Looks like the lighting was harsh via flash. I would crop tighter and add more contrast to the B/W conversion.
#3: I like the expression of joy in the couple. I would crop much tighter though.
#4: I like this the most.

Again, I would try to add more contrast/saturation to get that extra pop out of the photos.

Thanks! I can certainly crop down, and I took tighter shots of some of those as well. In #3, they were getting away from me... I told them to walk a little too far and was chasing them down the sidewalk. Oops.

Punching up the contrast in Lightroom 2 doesn't seem to do much more than push the hair detail into shadows. Some of that may be from the lighting - it was pretty solid overcast about 90 minutes before sundown.

I think I had somewhat better luck with the Presence sliders, but maybe the skin tone is a little overdone?

Yeah, that definitely looks overdone.

I really think with just a bit of cropping and some PP you can wind up with some good end results IMO, 2 is great, i like it. I would soften the grass up a bit maybe a bit of a blur to help bring the jaggedness away.
